Blog Post 4!

     I personally only enjoy using Twitter for entertainment purposes. While I understand that many people tend to use Twitter to spread news and discover whats happening in their news circle, I think there are better ways. In relation to this class, I do like being more connected to the education world because I never really see that side in my social media. If I only used Twitter for business and class purpose, it might be easier to keep up with it. As of right now I use my "fun" twitter every single day, no joke. In my future career, I think it would be helpful to read those big headlines for education because you don't really see the advancements being made in today's news. Its been nice to see that many educators today are using technology in the classroom and its given me ideas on what to do when I am an educator. 

     The digital divide affects students because it literally divides the students into those who have computer and internet access at home and those who do not have either. Sometimes, families cant afford to have both computers and internet access at home, and if they can afford one, sometimes they can't afford the other. Other times, they have to resort to going to the library (public or school) to finish homework and those aren't always reliable sources. So this causes students to fall behind in class due to them not being able to complete homework or assignments. I definitely expect that when I am an educator, I will have students in my classroom where computer access isn't possible. I would like to limit homework to just pencil and paper work because I don't want them to have to rely on computer access for a good grade in the class. I want to have heavy technology use in class, but mostly using in-class time. 

     I expect to use Microsoft Word and Rosetta Stone a lot. When I was in 8th grade Spanish, I remember not using a lot of technology except for personal activities. I also expect to use Quizlet because flashcards helped me so much, but they were a pain to make and also not so great on the environment. I would love to implement iPad and laptop use in class because they have great applications on the App Store for Apple that help students learn and practice a foreign language.

Second Journal!

     As a student, MS Word has been the most used application in my career. Every paper that I have had to turn in for a class has been on done on Word. It's the program I'm most familiar with and the one that my teachers all approve of universally. I never even thought of using another application. Since the first grade, my elementary school took pride in teaching all their students how to become familiar with all the programs on their computers. In the class periods where we'd learn how to use Word, I would find myself practicing how to make brochures, flyers, and even invitations. I never really understood how to do more intricate things until I took the Computer Fluency course (CGS 2060) here at FSU. They went into more detail about each and every tab on the program. Blog Post 10!

I think I'll use surveys in my future as an educator to better learn where my students are at and how I can help them. In other words, to adjust my curriculum through a course evaluation. But I'd want to keep using it throughout the semester and year and not have it be just a one time thing. I really enjoy when my professors give surveys that aren't only the university mandated ones. A lot of the times you can tell when they actually care about improving their course and don't just do it because it's mandatory. I really enjoyed reading what my classmates plan on using surveys for in their future but most importantly if it even applies to them. One in particular mentioned that she didn't think making surveys didn't really apply to her and that she wouldn't do them because she plans on being a kindergarten teacher. First Day with EME 2040

Prior Experience with Technology              My prior experience with technology is primarily the use of my iPhone 6s, but I did have to take CGS 2060 here at FSU which is a computer fluency course that lets you become familiar with Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Word, Excel). I have a MacBook Pro so I'm pretty familiar with some of my applications on there (Spotify, MusicNote, iMovie, etc.). But my experience is pretty limited to what I have to learn to survive, for example my cellphone, skills I would need to pass a class, and learning how to use an application in order to complete a school project.
